We are interested in hearing from prospective graduate and undergraduate students to join our group and perform integrative research related to behavior, population ecology, and conservation. In particular, we want to hear from students excited about the intersection of mathematics and biology. Biology is becoming increasing quantitative and our program offers training and research opportunities in the burgeoning field of BioMath, especially in areas related to modeling of evolution and stability of populations, and in the evolution of behaviors.
Undergraduate program:
Through National Science Foundation funding, we can support undergraduate students with $500 semester stipends plus additional funding for research expenses. Over the summers, we can offer $3500 stipends for a 10 week program, plus additional funding for a food allowance, campus housing, and a fund for research expenses. Undergraduate students should email one of the following Profs to set up an initial appointment:
Graduate program:
The biology department offers a research intensive two-year Masters program in which students benefit from being part of a highly-funded research program with a high faculty to student ratio. Our graduate students receive a personalized experience with plenty of opportunities for faculty contact. Potential graduate students should read through individual faculty web sites and make contact with the faculty member that most closely matches their interests. Graduate students should also read through the departmental web pages that describes our Masters program in general. There are also opportunities to sponsor graduate students through the Applied Science PhD program.
